On May 14, 2007, the House of Representatives unanimously voted to designate every September 25th as the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims. September 25, 2007 marked the first local Day of Remembrance at Mayor Carl T. Langford Park in Orlando. Our "Voice of Experience" was Ms. Claire Fielding whose daughter Debbie was murdered; her body found several days later in the park. BSH purchased and dedicated a live oak tree to Debbie and all murder victims in our community both past and future. The tree stands just a few feet from where Debbie was found. Our ceremony began in the gazebo and ended at the tree with a beautiful song and dove release. |
